We believe that God speaks to us in many different ways – through the Bible, through one another and through the gentle whisper of the Spirit. The general sense that we have discerned includes the following:

• God has encouraged us to be bold in praying for the transformation of our wider community
• Refreshment and renewal are being released amongst us and this will overflow into surrounding areas
• We are to take out from the place of gathering (the church building) the blessings God has given us
• There are major opportunities for strengthening our Christian presence through the significant developments in health provision that are happening in Cobridge.

Three years ago we helped set up a Community Project, jointly with our neighbouring parish of Burslem. Our aims were to build bridges between church and the neighbourhoods we serve and to show that the church was alive and well. Among work done so far has been:

• New worship opportunities in Portland Street
• Shared outreach at Christmas between different churches
• Representation at Area Implementation Team and Direct Delivery Group
• Developing new relationships and shared activities with other churches, including Union Street Pentecostal church 
• Engagement with local community groups
• Support given to community events
