Our Mission Orientation

In January 2009 we identified several things we wanted to work towards as part of God’s mission in our wider community.

1. Extending the Healing Ministry

  • To grow the healing ministry by additional services
  • To begin to offer healing prayer at community locations – starting at Portland Street Community Centre
  • To keep abreast of health developments within the community (especially at the new Cambian Healthcare facility – on St Augustine’s site – and proposed new Cobridge Health Centre) and to offer spiritual support where possible in these locations
  • To promote the healing ministry with flyers and leaflets in community settings

2. Encountering God in the church building

  • To set aside dedicated prayer areas within the church building –To provide resources to encourage prayer (e.g. prayer cards, icons, candles, prayer request forms etc)
  • To aim to open the church to the public on at least two further occasions per week

3. Communication and Information

  • To make available the Welcome Information Leaflet/Pack to all enquirers
  • To place copies of the Information Leaflet in as many local community meeting points as possible

4. Prayer for the Community

  • To re-introduce a Christ Church prayer diary
  • To do a prayer walk (physically and virtually) around a different neighbourhood once per quarter

5. Serving the Community

  • To enter Phase Two of the Christ Church/St John’s Community Project (‘Fresh Springs’)
